Why a year-only answer can be wrong
Many quick charts treat everyone born in the same Gregorian year as the same Chinese zodiac animal and element. That works for most birthdays after Lunar New Year, but it fails for many January and February birthdays.
For example, 2026 is often described as a Fire Horse year. But someone born on February 16, 2026 is still in the previous Chinese zodiac year. The Fire Horse year begins on February 17, 2026.
